LAUREN VAN HAAFTEN-SCHICK

LAUREN VAN HAAFTEN-SCHICK is a curator, artist and writer from New York. She is currently organizing “Non-Participation,” a collection of letters by cultural producers written to decline their participation in events by organizations and institutions for political and ethical reasons. Recent curatorial projects include “Canceled: Alternative Manifestations & Productive Failures” at The Center for Book Arts (New York) and other venues, “Directly in front of you” at Vox Populi (Philadelphia), and “Spirit of the Signal” at Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery (New York). Additional activities include The Art Law Program, “The Gallerist Programme Workshop” at de Appel arts centre (Amsterdam), the e-flux Time/Store and “Market, Alternative” at Trade School (New York). She was the founding director of Gallery TK in Northampton, MA from 2004-2006, and AHN|VHS gallery and bookstore in Philadelphia from 2009-2010. laurenvhs.com
